Sommet closed their first round with a huge 66-50 victory over ailing Livingstone on 14th May at YMCA.
This was a highly consequential game more so on the side of Livingstone and it was a must-win game for them.
Fortunately for Livingstone, they had last played on the 3rd against the City Oilers and had ample to rest and also prepare for this game.
On the other hand, Sommet had played on Sunday and registered a huge victory against the JT Jaguars and they aimed to carry the energy forward.
It was a very narrow half but Sommet took the first quarter 17-16 and the second 11-10 to take a 2-point lead into the halftime break.
In the second quarter, Livingstone struggled to beat the Sommet press as they were forced into 10 turnovers.
Fortunately for them, Sommet only scored 5 points from turnovers and also made 5 turnovers of their own.
The game broke open in the third quarter as Sommet outscored Livingstone 23-11 to take a 14-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Livingstone still did not have a solution for the Sommet press and it was very difficult for them to execute.
They made 9 turnovers in the third quarter alone and missed 14 of their 17 attempts from the field.
To make matters worse, their big man Diopa Durocher was ejected half through the third quarter and this was a huge setback for them.
In the fourth quarter, Livingstone felt like they were running out of time and they attempted multiple 3-point shots.
They managed to sink 4 of them but it wasn’t enough as Sommet won the game 66-50.
