The UCU Lady canons closed the first round the 2025 NBL with a 56-38 victory against the UPDF Lady Tomahawks on Saturday 17th at ABJA Park in Naalya.

The Lady Canons came into this game on the back of a narrow 63-61 defeat to the KCCA Leopards and needed to close the round on a strong foot.

UCU led the game 15-5 after the first quarter and the Lady Tomahawks did not score a point in the first 5 minutes of the game.

UPDF was better in the second quarter as they scored double the points they did in the first quarter.

However, they were fortunate that the Lady Canons missed a lot and the game was still open.

UCU missed 8 of their 10 free throws in the second quarter and this helped UPDF to stay within touching distance.

By the halftime break, UCU had the lead in the game, 25-15 and they increased it in the third quarter.

UPDF scored just 2 field goals in the third quarter while UCU scored 17 points to take a 19-point lead into the fourth quarter.

UCU scored 7 anunsawered poimts to start the final quarter and led by as many 28 points.

Despite, UPDF scoring a couple of baskets later in the game, it was a little too late and UCU won the game 56-38.
