The Kampala Rockets overcame an 18-point deficit to win 76-50 against the KIU Titans on Sunday 1st at YMCA.

The Rockets closed the first round with 4 consecutive wins and were intent on making it 5 victories in a row.

However, they were up against a very hungry KIU Titans side which is still winless.

The Titans started the game with so much fire, making 17 points to 1 in the first 6:30 minutes of the game.

The Rockets scored just 2 field goals in the first quarter and made 7 turnovers in the first quarter.

KIU kept attacking the rim and scoring in transition and their efficiency (9/18, 50%FG) helped them accumulate big points.

After the first quarter, the game was 23-6 but that quickly changed in the second.

Kampala Rockets opened the second quarter with an 8-0 run.

By the time KIU scored their first basket, the Rockets had gained steam and were ready for take-off.

They made another 8-0 to make it a 1-point game with just above 4 minutes left and from there onwards, they were in control.

Brian Opio made back-to-back triples and led the Rockets to an 11-0 run to take the lead, 38-33 at the halftime break.

Despite the scores slimming down, the Rockets extended their lead to 10 points ahead of the fourth quarter.

The situation went from bad to worse for the KIU Titans.

They were outscored 22-6 in the fourth quarter and the game ended 76-50.

One would be surprised by the Titans’ first quarter performance but in the first round, KIU gave the Rockets a run for their money.

Perhaps they thought they could get the job done this time around but only stopped in the first quarter.
