Stop 2 of the FIBA U23 3×3, currently happening in Benin’s Capital Porto Novo, did not go well for the Ugandan sides.
After winning stop one, most Ugandans were excited about the ladies’ team but were not prepared for what was to come on day 2.
The girls scored just 4 points against Cote d’Ivoire in their opener and struggled a lot to find the basket.
In their second game, the situation wasn’t any better as they scored just 6 points against Benin.
Many people argue that the change from Mary Priscillar Nambogo, who featured in stop one, to Sarah Namale was the source of our offensive problems.
However, the girls failed to convert even when they had open shots. It is what they term “a bad day in office”.
The men improved greatly, from finishing last to finishing second.
The lads got revenge against Kenya, defeating them 15-11 in their first game of the day.
In their second game, they defeated Benin 15-9 and progressed to the finals.
Playing Algeria was going to be very tough as these are the same players that caused havoc in the 2024 tournament in Kampala.
The Algerians are more skilled and lethal and it was not a surprise that they won the game comfortably, 21-8.
