The Magic Stormers registered their eighth win of the season after edging the fighting Nkumba Lady Marines, 74-67.

Coming into this game, the Magic Stormers had won their first second round game, 74-50, against Nabisunsa.

The Nkumba Lady Marines had lost their previous game, 76-33, to the JT Lady Jaguars and were on a hunt for their first win of the season.

Despite being winless, Nkumba had some confindence that they could bag a win given how the first game round between the 2 sides turned out.

The Magic Stormers won in round one 62-54 but the Lady Marines had pushed them and it was their hope that maybe, they could get the job done this time around.

After the first quarter, Nkumba led the game 18-15.

Mellisa Kyazze Namboowa was very impactful as she scored 10 points.

The Lady Marines scored most of their points in transition and it was working very well for them.

However, the Stormers took over in the second quarter.

In the final 4 minutes of the quarter, Magic Stormers outscored Nkumba 13-6 to take a 5-point lead into the halftime break.

The Stormers were very hungry in the third quarter and they created a separation.

Martha Nakalemba came in and scored 12 points in the quarter while Gimbo Barbra added 5 points, 2 steals and 1 assist in the quarter.

By the end of the quarter, the Stormers led the game 60-44 and it was just a matter of seeing out the game in the fourth.

With just under 7 minutes left in the game, the Stormers led by 21 points but for the remainder of the game, it was Nkumba.

The Lady Marines were working hard on cleaning the glass and also scoring in transition.

Nkumba registered 20 rebounds, 11 more than Magic Stormers in the fourth quarter alone and this helped them a lot.

They also outscored them 23-14 but were in a deep hole that they couldn’t come out of and lost the game 74-67 in the end.

The Nkumba Lady Marines have lost all their 13 games and will play on against the KCCA Leopards next on 11th June.
