U18 Gazelles players, Shiphrah Kiranda and Husnah Namagembe Abubaker each register a triple-double in game week 6 and combined for 96 points.

The duo plays for Kibuli S.S and made records as Kibuli ended Pearl Queens unbeaten run and also a victory against Legends.

On Saturday 7th June, Kibuli S.S. thumped Pearl Queens 67-45 but the duo was at the center of the team’s success.

Shiphrah Kiranda registered a huge double-double, 25 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 11 steals.

An argument can be made that she’s the best 2-way player in the league because of how much she contributes offensively and defensively.

Her presence in the paint also scares away the opponents and in this game, Pearl Queens, which was unbeaten at the time, only made 20 points in the paint.

With that phenomenal performance, Shiphrah Kiranda became the first player to register a triple-double in Division One this season.

For U16 Captain, Husnah Namagembe Abubaker registered 8 points, 8 rebounds, game high 6 assists and 4 steals.

She also had the highest +/- with 23 which shows how much of an impact she had.

The 2 had more field goal attempts (39) than the entire Pearl Queens starting 5 (38) which shows how much their teammates trusted them to score.

In their next game, Kibuli S.S dominated Legends, defeating them 78-34.

In this game, Shiphrah and Husnah had 54 attempts from the field which was 12 more than the entire Legends team.

Shiphrah scored 34 points, the same as the entire Legends team and added 12 rebounds, 8 steals, and 1 assist.

Husnah scored her season high 29 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 steals plus 4 assists.

She became the second player to register a triple-double this season.

Both Shiphrah and Husnah represented Uganda at the U16 African Championship in 2023 and the U18 African Championship in 2024.

They have a wealth of experience having played in the league since 2023 and will be stars in the future.

After having had a bad start to the season, these 2 big wins have been a huge relief for the team.

The team looks to build on the confidence gathered in these games and will be hoping that Shiphrah and Husnah can guide them to more wins.

In 2023, Kibuli had a spectacular year and went toe-to-toe with Watoto in the quarter-finals.

Can Shiphrah and Husnah lead them back to that same stage?
