On Wednesday 25th, the Victoria Crocs defeated the JT Jaguars 74-66 in overtime to complete the season double over them.

This was a very tense game from the start of the fourth quarter and it  was no surprise that it was decided in overtime.

However, there was a lot of pedestrian play from the players and one could assume that neither team wanted to win this game.

With 2:13 left in the fourth quarter, Victoria led the game by four points but what followed in the next few seconds was unprecedented.

After getting a stop on defense, Victoria turned the ball over at the top of the key and Peter Sifuma punished them.

On the inbound, Victoria made another turnover and just like that, the game was tied.

The Jaguars took the lead shortly after but Mayom David forced overtime after burying 2 free throws.

Both teams missed their first 2 free throws in overtime but shortly after, Chuol Nyuot became the unlikely hero.

He contributed on all their next 3 made field goals with 4 points and 1 assist to help Victoria get a 6-point lead.

At this point, it was all about game management for the Crocs and they managed to see out the game, winning it 74-66.

In the first quarter, the Jaguars trailed by as many as 7 points but buried 3 triples to take a 2-point lead.

The second quarter is where the the JT Jaguars dropped the ball and Victoria Crocs took a hold of the game.

The Jaguars scored just 2 points and 0 field goals in the first 6 minutes of the quarter.

In that time, they made 6 turnovers and Victoria gained a 7-point lead.

Roland Muwanguzi made 2 crucial shots at the end of the half including a buzzer beater to make it a 9-point lead for Victoria.

The Jaguars adjusted their tactics and their applied a lot of pressure on Victoria forcing them into 8 turnovers.

Secondly, they became very active on getting offensive rebounds and they managed to pick 7 in th3 quarter and scored 10 second-chance points.

At some point, Victoria University adjusted their tactics to having 3 guards in order to protect the ball more.

The Jaguars managed to outscore Victoria 27-18 and tied the game, 51 apiece.

In the fourth quarter, the Jaguars collected 15 offensive rebounds but only converted 4 second chance points.

They also missed 22 of their 28 field goal attempts and scored 0 of 5 free throws.

Victoria converted 6 of 8 from the free throw line and this kept them in the game.

Mayom David Anyak had a wonderful debut performance. His height and wingspan helped his team defensively and his highlight was the chase down block on Peter Sifuma.

The JT Jaguars missed 8 of their 9 free throws in the fourth quarter and Overtime and this was one of the recipes for their failure.

The JT Jaguars have now lost back-to-back games and have a 10-7 record.

They face the Rezlife Saints next on Saturday 28th at Abja Park.

Victoria Crocs snapped their 3-game losing streak and a 9-8 record.

They take on Sommet next on 11th July at YMCA.
