The race for the final playoff spots keeps getting exciting as the days go by.
Not long ago, Rezlife had to get a win against Victoria in order to stay in the race and they did.
Victoria Crocs also had to get a win, to not only stay in the race but also drag the City Oilers back into the calculations and they did.
The Crocs defeated the City Oilers 65-52 and that means the race to the playoffs became even more dramatic.
As things stand, the City Oilers have an 11-9 record, Victoria Crocs with 10-10 while Rezlife Saints have 9-10.
The Oilers face the Namuwongo Blazers and JKL Dolphins in their final 2 games.
Victoria Crocs face Livingstone and KIU Titans while the Rezlife Saints take on KCCA Panthers, Livingstone and the JKL Dolphins.
For the Oilers, the game against Namuwongo Blazers is very key.
If they win that game and that against JKL, they are safely through.
If they lose atleast one, there is a chance of them not going through.
If they lose all the 2 games, making the playoffs will no longer be in their hands.
Victoria Crocs has to make sure that they win both their remaining games in order to make the playoffs.
However, even if they do, it is not a guarantee as some factors could affect them.
The team which can determine their fate and that of others is the Rezlife Saints.
If Rezlife wins all their remaining games, a lot of scenarios will have to play out in order to determine the final teams to make the playoffs.
In case Rezlife loses even one, they will have put themselves in a very difficult position with a huge likeliness of missing the playoffs.
Victoria Crocs will most likely win both their remaining games and so are projected to finish with a 12-10 record.
If City Oilers lose to Namuwongo and win against JKL, which is very likely, they will also finish with a 12-10 record.
With this, it means Rezlife has to win all their 3 games to get a 12-10 record and that means all the 3 teams will be tied.
In this case, points difference will be used and as things stand, City has 184, Victoria Crocs 41 while Rezlife Saints has 22.
If Rezlife Saints and City Oilers have the same record, the Oilers advance.
How can this happen.
If City Oilers lose all their 2 games while Rezlife win just 2 and Victoria win all the remaining 2, the Oilers and Saints will have an 11-11 record.
But since City Oilers owns the tie breaker, they will be above them.
In case City Oilers and Victoria are tied, Victoria advances.
For this to happen, Rezlife Saints would have to win all their games, City Oilers lose all their games while Victoria lose one of the 2.
The 2 teams would be tied on with 11-11 but since Victoria owns the tie breaker, they would advance.
Friday 18th is a very crucial day regarding who makes the playoffs.
The most important game is that between the KCCA Panthers and Rezlife Saints.
If Saints lose, the pathways for Victoria and City Oilers becomes easy and clear.
In case they win, the game between Namuwongo and City Oilers becomes very significant in this conversation.
There will be lots of drama as a lot will be decided on Friday night.
In case you can, make your way to Lugogo and witness for yourself first hand and in case you can’t, make sure to watch the games live on TV.
