After the loss to the Namuwongo Blazers, their was a lot of chatter regarding the position of the City Oilers and their chances to make the playoffs.
Most of these were City Oilers fans and you could tell the pressure and anxiety as they have not been used to this kind of mathematics.
The last time the Oilers encountered such mathematics was in BAL but when you think about it, BAL is only but a dream at this point in time.
The defending Champions find themselves in a position they haven’t been in before, with their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
I’m not a City Oilers fans but I’m here to tell the Oilers faithful. Please, relax.
There is reason to be worried but the team shall be in the playoffs.
Why?
In their final game, they face the JKL Dolphins and they should be good enough to win that game.
With the way they showed up against the Namuwongo Blazers, the City Oilers know what is at stake and will bag the win.
If/when they do, they will have a 12-10 record and this is enough for them to go through.
For Rezlife Saints and Victoria Crocs, the maximum number of wins they can get is 12.
If they lose one of their remaining games, they can’t catch the City Oilers.
In case they win all their remaining games, more than 2 teams will be tied with the same record and of these, the City Oilers have the most points difference.
If 5 teams are tied, there is a possibility that the City Oilers finish as number 5.
If this is the case, they will most likely face the Namuwongo Blazers in the semifinals, if both teams go through.
The chances of the City Oilers finishing as number 8 are very slim and we shouldn’t expect them to meet the Namuwongo Blazers in the quarter-finals.
The fixture against the JKL Dolphins is the most crucial one and will determine a lot for the City Oilers. They should be good enough to win that game and march on to the playoffs.
For the City Oilers faithful who are worried, kindly Relax!
