In my earlier articles, I was indicating that the KCCA Panthers is the team at disadvantage with higher chances of missing the playoffs.

However, on reexamination, I have discovered that they have already made the playoffs.

How?

In my initial articles, i was considering the total points difference to be the determinant and if you go by this, the Panthers have the worst (-11) among the teams that could potentially be tied.

The caveat though is, that is not the first area to be used in the criteria.

According to FIBA Rules

If 2 or more teams have the same win-loss record of all games in the group, the game(s) between these 2 or more teams shall decide on the classification.

What does this mean?

The games played amidst the teams shall first be considered.

In is case, the times when Victoria Crocs, KCCA Panthers, Rezlife Saints and City Oilers played each other.

As this point in time, the games involving those teams against each other are done and we can determine how they went.

Results

City Oilers 57-68 KCCA Panthers

City Oilers 71-62 KCCA Panthers

City Oilers 60-56 Victoria Crocs

City Oilers 52-65 Victoria Crocs

City Oilers 68-52 Rezlife Saints

City Oilers 75-72 Rezlife Saints

KCCA Panthers 67-58 Victoria Crocs

KCCA Panthers 68-43 Victoria Crocs

KCCA Panthers 56-53 Rezlife Saints

KCCA Panthers 59-79 Rezlife Saints

Victoria Crocs 57-63 Rezlife Saints

Victoria Crocs 46-63 Rezlife Saints

As seen from the results up, the teams don’t have the same win-loss record and this shall be used as the decider.

Win-loss record in the 12 games

City Oilers 4-2

KCCA Panthers 4-2

Rezlife Saints 3-3

Victoria Crocs 1-5

Basing on this, the KCCA Panthers are already through to the playoffs.

Remember that, as things stand, KCCA has a 12-10 record and in case the other teams will all their remaining games, they will get to a 12-10 record.

In case this happens, the City Oilers and Rezlife Saints will all be through leaving Victoria Crocs out.

The Crocs face Livingstone and the KIU Titans in their final 2 games of the season.

They must win both their games but also pray that either City Oilers or Rezlife Saints fault.

Rezlife Saints closes the season with  game against the JKL Dolphins who will also take on the City Oilers in their final game of the regular season.

Rezlife and City Oilers must win, if they do, they are through.

As things stand, Victoria Crocs need a miracle and one would wonder, can they get it?
