The UPDF Lady Tomahawks closed their season with a bang after upsetting the KIU Rangers in a 63-55 victory on Saturday 9th at YMCA.
After being out of action for close to a month, both teams were hungry to get back on court .
Straight from tip-off, this was promising to be a very competitive game.
The army side led the game 17-11 after the first quarter with 7 of their points coming from the free throw line.
KIU Rangers was cut off on the inside and they opted for shots from distance.
They attempted 16 3-point shots but scored only one and that was the major reason as to why they trailed.
In the second quarter, they scored 5 triples while UPDF scored just 1 and by halftime, UPDF led 31-28.
The momentum for KIU was cut off during the halftime break and by the time both teams returned, it was as though starting afresh.
In the fourth, KIU kept looking for the 3-point shots but most of them weren’t landing.
On the other hand, the Lady Tomahawks got a couple of steals and went to the basket for easy layups.
In the fourth quarter alone, Stella Marris Lunkuse scored 11 points and picked 4 rebounds to cap off an incredible 20-20 performance.

The UPDF Lady Tomahawks registered their first victory against the KIU Rangers and this was a pleasant way to end their regular season.
They finished the season with an 8-12 and will face the JKL Lady Dolphins in the quarter finals.
The KIU Rangers have finished with an 11-9 record and will face the UCU Lady Canons in the quarter finals.
