Newly promoted Kakira RFC launched their new replica jersey for their fans ahead of the 2026 Uganda Rugby Championship.

Kakira RFC which is based in Kakira was founded in 2024 and they gained immediate success in 2025 crowning it with a promotion to the top Rugby 15’s league.

With their new success, they decided to ride on it and show who they are made of in their new kit.

The Jersey is green, yellow and black stripes. The green representing sugarcane while the yellow representing the sugar (finished product) and this shows that they are proud of who they are and where they come from. A sugar manufacturing area.

Ahead of the new season, Kakira RFC sound confident about their chances in the top flight.

“We are not looking at winning the championship but we are very ambitious and are not an ordinary team” Director of Rugby Saidi Atibu said.

“We want to do a  shake up of Uganda Rugby and we already have 3 players from outside of Uganda join us” he added.

Kakira also has a ladies program through their team the Kakira Lionesses.

However, the program is still in the background although there are plans to move it forward.

“At the moment it’s not part of the priority activity programs but next year it is one that we shall go ahead with” Atibu Saidi commented on that matter.

The replicas will be available for sale with the premium version going to $100 while the other version shall be for 100,000 shs.

They shall be available at different outlets including the Club house in Kakira but they can also be accessed on the club online shop, Kakirarugbyclub.com

Kakira RFC Director for Finance Titus Wambede highlighted on what buying the replica means to them.

“Each coin to put to this has a purpose. For development, improvement both socially and economically for Kakira and its players”

He added, “It is one year and a few days and we can see where Kakira has reached with what has been given. I can only imagine what it can get to when more [resources] are put in the club”

Kakira also has multiple partners show have helped them in their journey since the start.

Their club president Nelson Mandela said, “We have managed to be who we are because of the support and partnerships that we have allover the world”

One of Kakira RFC partners is the Blackrock College Rugby Football Club from Ireland who are on tour in Uganda.

The team arrived on the morning of Friday 15th and will take on the Uganda All Stars at Kyadondo on the 16th.

They shall then engage in multiple activities in Kakira throughout the week including passing on knowledge to the youngsters.

On the final day of their tour, the Kakira Rugby Football Club will officially be launched to the world.
