The Silverbacks exited the 2025 Afrobasket after losing all their 3 group stage games and finishing last in group D.
Ahead of their final game against Egypt on Saturday 16th, the team knew that they would not make it out of the group regardless of the outcome.
However, they still fought, came very close but still couldn’t win the game.
Uganda led 18-17 after the first quarter but Egypt had an edge in the second quarter and took a 1-point lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, that is when things went wrong for Uganda. Egypt made a 17-2 run and established a 10-point lead which was enough for them.
The Silverbacks fought in the fourth quarter, brought the game to within 6 points but just couldn’t go past that.
In the end, the Egyptians made a 10-0 run to establish a 16-point lead with 2:30 left and they won the game 77-64.

With this defeat, Uganda finished last in Group D and will play no further part in the tournament.
Egypt finished with a perfect record, 3/3. They await for the winner between Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The top performers for the Silverbacks include;
John Deng Geu, who scored double digits in all the 3 games and averaged 22 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals.
Robinson Opong who went off for 19 points against Mali.
Jonathan Komagum was the defensive machine and he averaged 5.3 points, 13 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
