For the very first time, the U16 Silverbacks have qualified to the quarter-finals at the U16 Afrobasket.

This comes after their 73-53 victory against the defending champions, Guinea, in their final pool game.

With that win, they finished in third place in pool B but had to wait for some games before they confirm their place in thr quarter finals.

On Tuesday 9th, Rwanda lost 72-47 to Cote d’Ivoire and this meant that Uganda finishes in the top 8.

When you compare Uganda’s (6) goal difference to Rwanda’s (-18), the Junior Silverbacks are way better and this means they rank above the hosts.

To determine their final seeding, the Junior Silverbacks have to wait for pool C games to conclude.

However, as things stand, they are set to finish as number 7 and will most likely face Cameroon (again) in the quarter-finals.

The quarter-finals will be played on Friday 12th but the quarter-final match ups will be confirmed on Wednesday 10th after the final game of the day.

In the previous game of Uganda, each of the players was involved and they all looked happy for each other after the game.

On Tuesday, they had a little tour around and one of the places they visited was the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

The team shall continue to prepare for the quarter-finals and the rest they have gotten could be very impactful.
