When these 2 sides met in game one, the Magic Stormers led pretty much the entire game but never got the job done.
The KCCA Leopards trailed from the first quarter and took the lead with under 30 seconds to play, ultimately winning the game 67-65.
This time around, the circumstances were different but most importantly for the Stormers, they won the game 78-60.
At halftime, they trailed 37-25 but managed to dominate the Leopards in thr second half.
They outscored them 53-23 to win the game 78-60.
What Happened?
It was a competitive first quarter that ended that ended with the Leopards leading 14-13.
KCCA utilized the second opportunities as they picked 5 offensive boards and scored 7 second chance points.
KCCA turned up the heat in the second quarter.
They ran and scored a lot in transition. The shots were dropping, 3/6, from the 3-point line and everything was going well for them.
The Leopards made 9 of their attempted 15 field goals in the second quarter alone.
On the contrary, the Stormers struggled to score. They missed 6 of 8 free throw attempts and to make it worse, their turnover problem was not solved.
They made 7 turnovers in the second quarter adding to their 8 I’m from the first.
At the halftime break, the KCCA Leopards led the game comfortably, 37-25, and all signs pointed towards their victory.
However, that wasn’t the case in the second half.
The Stormers intensified the pressure on defense and forced KCCA into tough shots and turnovers.
From the 7 turnovers KCCA made in the third period, the Magic Stormers capitalized with 10 points from turnovers.
They ran alot of transition and KCCA was astounded. The Leopards were in disbelief and to make matters worse, they were making bad decisions.
Not running back for defense, showed no effort and this made things easier for the Magic Stormers.
At the end of the quarter, the game was tied 51-51 but the Stormers were cruising with the momentum.
Halfway through the fourth quarter, Magic Stormers led by 9 points and panic set in for KCCA.
They started throwing the ball up hoping to connect from 3.
However, nothing was working but this wasn’t the case for the Stormers.
After missing 14 of their first 15 3-point shots, the Stormers made 3 of their last 4 and these came at a very crucial time.
The Stormers scored 10/17 field goals in the fourth quarter and 8/16 in the third.
Additionally, they scored 13 of 18 free throws to make it 53 points in the second half alone.
They ended up bagging a comfortable 78-60 victory over thr number 2 seed.
