The U23 3×3 Gazelles Team will be competing at the 2025 FIBA U23 3×3 World Cup in Xiongan, China.
The tournament started on Wednesday 17th and will be running until September 21st.
Uganda qualified for this after winning the FIBA Youth Nations League Africa 1 that went down in Benin.
The team won 4 of the 6 stops and were crowned champions ultimately qualifying for the world cup.
Additionally, the team participated in 3 stops during the 2025 3×3 Women’s Series.
In their final stop, Uganda managed to win their first game and made it to the quarter-finals.
It is important to note that, in the final 2 stops of the women’s series, Priscillar Nambogo didn’t participate and was replaced by Melissa Akullu.
However, all these players now have a lot of experience and so much is expected of them.

In 2024, Uganda won the 3×3 Youth Nations league and qualified for the world cup which was in Mongolia.
At that tournament, Uganda lost all their 4 games.
In that tournament, 2 players, Shillah Lamunu and Priscillar Nambogo, played and thus have much more experience now.
With the addition of the competition at the Youth Nations League and the 3×3 Women’s Series, the team has faced some tough competition and they are expected to deliver.
