The last times (2019 and 2024) that the U23 3×3 Gazelles were at the 3×3 World Cup, Uganda did not win any game.
This time around, the team managed to win one of their four games and finished in 14th one place behind their best ever finish (13th) in 2018.
After losing both their first 2 games, the team had a chance to redeem themselves and they did exactly that.
The team dominated Fiji and thumped them 21-3, in their third game at the tournament.
This was Uganda’s biggest victory at the U23 3×3 World Cup and was the first time Uganda scored 21 points.
In the final game of the tournament, Uganda fell to Czechia 9-13 in a narrow game.

This was the second time that Uganda is scoring 50+ points at the tournament.
The first time was in 2018 when they scored 53 and this year they scored 52.
This was the lowest number of points (55) that Uganda has conceded at the tournament.
Shillah Lamunu scored 20 points and became the second Uganda player (behind Jamila Nansikombi’s 21 in 2018) to score 20+ at the tournament.
Just like in 2018 and 2019, Uganda has played at back-to-back U23 3×3 World Cup.
Priscillar Nambogo and Shillah Lamunu joined Ritah Imanishimwe as the only Ugandans to play at 2 World cups.
There will be more pressure on the 2026 class to make sure they make it to the World Cup and get better results there.
