The JT Lady Jaguars came out guns blazing in game one to register an easy 63-37 victory over the Magic Stormers in Game One.
Having ‘shocked’ the KCCA Leopards in the quarter-finals, there was a feeling that the Stormers could cause an upset.
However, the Lady Jaguars did not give them an opportunity for that as they started strong from the get-go.
They limited the Stormers to just 1 point for close to 8 minutes and they managed to get baskets of their own in that time.
To close the first quarter, the Lady Jaguars led the game 20-8.
Even in the second quarter, scoring was very hard for the Magic Stormers.
They managed to make just 9 points while the Lady Jaguars made 16 to make it 36-17 at the halftime break.
This game was over as a contest midway through the third quarter.
Magic Stormers did not for almost the first 5 minutes and at that point, the Lady Jaguars led by 25 points.
Surely, there was no hope for a comeback and tne game ended 63-37.
One of the things that was talk led about after the game was thae fact that the JT Lady Jaguars did not undermine the opposition.
This was the same in game one of the quarter-finals against the Miracle Eaglets.
They limited them to just 16 points in the first half and thumped them 71-36.
Some of the important things to note in this game,
One, the JT Jaguars made sure to make difficult for the Stormers in the paint.
Despite the Stormers bigs getting touches in the paint, it was very difficult for them to get past the towering height of Batamuliza and Ageno.
Secondly, the guards of the Stormers weren’t doing enough when it came to generating offense.
The Jaguars applied some pressure on them in the half court and this made things very tough.
The passes, attempts made and just dribbling was hard due to how JT played them and that is why the game ended the way it did.
Player and Coach’s Reactions
“We started well and set the tone early. That was the reason why we won” JT Lady Jaguars Coach Sudi Ulanga.
He added, “we did right things consistently. That is what we want to do in game 2 and even better”
Maimuna Nabbosa spoke about the importance of their strong start to the game.
“It is the playoffs. How you start a game really matter a lot. If you have a terrible start, the chances are low that you’ll have a good finish. It’s better off to start well so that you build momentum to finish strong”
