The 2025 FUBA Division One started in high gear and there were a couple of shock results on day one.
Number 6 seed, Ihoops, defeated the number 3 seed, Miracle Eagles 62-57, in an end-to-end game.
Waleed Omar led in scoring with 18 points, while Edward Komaketch and Salum Ssenono added 11 and 10 respectively.
At the halftime break, Ihoops led the game 34-26.
In the third quarter, Miracle managed to turn the game around even took the lead. However, as the quarter winded down, Rucekeri Salum Ssenono scored huge 5 points to give Ihoops a 4-point lead.
In the fourth, Miracle cut it down to 1 point but Ihoops made an 8-0 run to make it a 9-point game. They then managed to keep some gap between them and the Eagles, eventually winning the game.
Erjok Agot finished with 18 points while Bior Alier Thon had 15 for the Miracle Eagles.
The UPDF Tomahawks registered an easy 63-44 victory over the Tropical Royals.
Tropical Royals was limited to just 3 points in the entire first quarter while UPDF scored 25.
With this big early lead, the Tomahawks became comfortable for the remainder of the game.
Tropical Royals woke up in the fourth quarter were they scored 21 points but enough damage had already been done.
Gang Andrew led in scoring with 14 points while Isaac Gai and Joseph Bwaku each scored 11.
The Nkumba Marines registered a 65-54 win over the Entebbe Knight Riders.
One thing was very fascinating though in this game. The Marines and the Riders each scored just 2 points in the third quarter.
Entebbe Knight Riders led the game 16-12 after the first quarter but Nkumba took over in the second.
They out-scored the Riders 22-12 to take 6-point lead into the halftime break.
Youngster William Mabor Dombai scored hugs 7 points in the second quarter and added 6 rebounds.
The third quarter was horrible from both teams but in the fourth, Nkumba managed to maintain the edge and win the game.
Aluma Rukubo was the man of the moment as he scored 22 points, 12 coming in the fourth quarter.
William Dombai was 100% from the field with 4/4, 9 points and 14 rebounds.
Emmanuel Muto, Jasper Alinda and Emmanuel Apuol each scored 11 points for the Knight Riders.
Game Twos of these series and game one of the UMU Flames and diamonds in the Sun will all be taking place on Sunday 19th at Hamz Stadium.
