The 2025 FUBA Division One playoffs started in high gear and as always, there were some surprises.

Amazon Rhino, which was supposed to face the Victoria She Crocs was a no-show and this was the biggest surprise of the day.

As thus, the Victoria She Crocs have advanced to the semi-finals and will await the winner between Makerere Sparks and MUBS Lady Jills.

In the University derby, Makerere Sparks managed to see out the game with a 57-43 victory.

The Sparks employed the press and limited Lady Jills to just 15 points in the first half. However, in the second, Lady Jills took over, scoring 21 to Makerere’s 11 to cut the deficit to 2 points heading into the fourth quarter.

Once again the press came up huge for Makerere in the fourth quarter. They forced the Lady Jills into 12 turnovers in the fourth quarter alone while scoring 9 points from turnovers.

Lady Jills had 39 turnovers and this hurt them a lot. However, they secured 13 more rebounds than Makerere and out-scored them 15-5 in second chance points.

Afua Nabawanga had a game-high 23 points while Mercy Ageno registered a double-double, 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals.

Doreen Atukunda was Lady Jills main threat and she finished with 19 rebounds and 9 points.

In the biggest ‘upset’ of the day, Legends defeated Kampala University 52-50 to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

The first half ended 29-24 in favor of the University side and many thought they had enough to dominate the second half and see out the game.

However, the third quarter was very low scoring with a combined 9 points scored for both teams.

In the fourth quarter, Franceas Nabulobi took over. She hit 4 3-point shots and scored a total 18 points in the quarter to help Legends see out the game.

Nabulobi had a game-high 23 points with 5 3-point shots made. Robinah Ageno led Kampala University in scoring with 14 points while Victoria Nalwanga had 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Pearl Queens took care of business with an easy 69-35 victory over JT Junior Lady Jaguars.

After the first quarter, Pearl Queens led the game 21-11 and it was very clear that they wanted to finish the job quickly.

By halftime, they led the game 38-19 and it was going to be an uphill task for the Junior Lady Jaguars to make a comeback.

Lavin Auma scored a game-high 15 points while Cindarella Charity and Vivian faith added 13 and 12 respectively.

Immaculate Namusoke registered a double for the Jaguars, 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Game Twos of the Quarterfinals shall take place on Sunday 19th at Hamz Stadium.
