The Namuwongo Blazers made history on Wednesday 5th November as they defeated the City Oilers in game 6, 68-55, to win their first NBL Championship.
With this victory, the Nam Blazers ended the 10-year reign of the City Oilers and got revenge for the 2022 Finals defeat.
Ahead of this game, the Blazers led 3-2 and all they needed was a victory in order to make history.
Namuwongo started the game well, taking the ball to the hoop and they managed to get some buckets.
However, turnovers were a problem for them.
With about 3:30 left in the first quarter, Namuwongo led by 6 points but they did not score again in the remainder of the quarter.
City Oilers closed the quarter with a 7-0 run to take a the lead, 16-15.
To start the second quarter, the Oilers scored 9 unanswered points to make a 16-0 run and take 10-point lead.
In the next 3 minutes, the tables quickly turned around.
Namuwongo Blazers made a 17-2 run to take a 4-point lead.
Joel Lukoji made a huge three off the screen from Jimmy Enabu.
Jimmy Enabu then made a three of his own on the next possession.
On the following possession, James Okello buried a third consecutive Blazers triple.
At the halftime break, the game was tied 35-35.
With less than 4 minutes to go in the game, Tonny Drileba made a huge 3-point shot to give Nam Blazers a 9-point lead and looked like the final nail in the coffin.
City Oilers did not score any other point and with about 1 minute to go, they had given up.
Most of the second half, the City Oilers looked gassed out.
They made multiple turnovers and missed a lot of lay ups which seemed very easy.
They scored just 20 points while the Blazers scored 33 and won the game 68-55.

City Oilers’ 10-year reign has come to an end and we shall be waiting to see if they can take the next one.
The Namuwongo Blazers have won their first championship after winning the series 4-2.
They will be traveling to Kenya for the BAL Elite 16, which is scheduled for 18th to 23rd of November.
