Magic Stormers fell to Tanzania’s Foxes Divas, 68-55, in their second game at the 2025 Women’s Basketball League Africa.
Following their walkover loss to Gladiators on day one, the Magic Stormers needed a perfect run in the remainder of the games and this was big opportunity for them to start strong.
At the halftime break, Foxes Divas led the game 34-33.
The Stormers sunk a couple of 3-point shots in the third quarter and with about 3:40 left, they led by 4 points.
However, they did not score again in the quarter and Foxes Divas closed with an 8-0 run to lead the game 52-48.
For the first 3 minutes of the final quarter, neither team scored a point.
Dina Musa then buried a huge triple to make it an 8-point lead for the Tanzanian side.
Angella Auma also buried a three to bring the deficit back to 5 points.
Both teams exchanged baskets but when Foxes Divas made a 6-0 run to make it an 11-point lead, they knew it was their game to lose.
As expected they managed to see out the game, winning, 68-55.
One thing that caught the attention of many was the limited number of players available for the Magic Stormers.
They only had 7 players and it was surprising not to see Hope Akello, Ruth Letaru and Daphine Adong who had been announced on the club’s social media handles.
