Victoria She Crocs and Pearl Queens are set to face off in the FUBA Division One Finale.
Game One of the 7-game series will be on Saturday 15th at Hamz Stadium while game two will be on at Sunday at the same venue.
Victoria She Crocs advanced to the finals after defeating Makerere Sparks 3-1 in the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Pearl Queens swept Kampala University 3-0 to book their spot in the finals.
Both these teams were formed this year and were undoubtedly the favorites to make it to the NBL after the problems of the YMCA Lady Hamstars.
In the regular season, each of these days won one of the games.
Surprisingly both those games were very close, Pearl Queens won 60-56 in the first round and Victoria She Crocs won 57-52 in the second.
In the first round game, Victoria scored just 3 points in the final 5 minutes of the game.
For the second round, tables flipped. Pearl Queens scored just 2 points in more than 8 minutes in the fourth quarter.
This shows that both teams are capable of making defensive adjustments that can lead to victories.
Battle in the Paint
Viola Nakazibwe and Falidah Kadondi have been a menace in the paint.
Against Makerere, the 2 picked 103 rebounds in the semi-finals, an average of 25.7 per game.
They made it difficult for opponents to score in the paint and made sure to secure the rebounds.
On the other side, they did most of their damage in the paint.
This time around, they will be going against 2 solid players in Cinderella Charity and Lavin Auma Owiti.
When the 2 sides last met, Lavin dropped 18 points, 14 rebounds, 8 steals, 6 blocks and 2 assists.
In Pearl Queens’ last game, she dropped 31 points, 12 rebounds, 6 steals, 2 assists and 1 block.
For the semi-final series, Auma averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 3.6 steals and 1.3 blocks.
Her mate, Cinderella Charity averaged 11 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.6 steals and 1 block.
Seeing Victoria She Crocs’ Viola Nakazibwe and Falidah Kadondi going against Lavin Auma and Cinderella Charity will be very interesting.
Whichever team wins that battle might end up as the victors.
During game one of the semi-finals between Makerere Sparks and Victoria She Crocs, Pearl Queens players were in the stands saying that theh wanted to face Victoria ASAP.
This is the game they have been looking forward to and they can’t wait to meet them.
Victoria She Crocs had a team lunch recently to celebrate making it to the NBL and bond ahead of the finals.
The two teams don’t like each other and can’t wait to face off.
Remember, bragging rights as well as a championship are at stake.
