The UPDF Tomahawks defeated UMU Flames 59-49 in game 2 of the Division One finals to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Following their 76-50 demolition in game one, UMU Flames came on a mission to win game 2 and level the series.

In the first quarter, all seemed to be going well.

They forced UPDF into 16 turnovers in the first quarter and led the game 19-9.

In the second quarter, things went in the opposite direction.

UMU scored just 2 points and these came in the final 30 seconds.

The Flames made 10 turnovers in the quarter and missed even the easy layups.

On the other hand, UPDF scored 16 points including 3 3-point shots and they led the game 25-21 at the halftime break.

Both teams scored 14 points in the third period but the big separation happened in the fourth quarter.

Deng Isaac Gai and Martin Janvier scored 2 huge threes for UPDF and Benjamin Kyazze made it a 10-point lead with about 7:23 left.

Janvier was called for an unsportsmanlike foul and UMU had a chance to close the gap but that did not happen.

Torach Brian missed 2 free throws and Okello Morris blocked Joshua Duallo’s shot attempt shortly.

Deng Isaac then gave UPDF a 12-point lead after his midrange jumper.

UMU managed other cut it to a 9-point deficit and had a chance to cut the deficit even further.

Janvier was called for another unsportsmanlike foul but Torach Brian once again missed 2 free throws but Rubahimbya Jassey scored a 3 to make it a 6-point game.

UMU got another chance to cut the deficit but this time around it was Duallo who missed 2 free throws.

In the final 2 minutes, Torach Brian managed to sink a 3 to make it a 4-point game but Benjamin Kyazze responded with a huge 3 which finished the hopes of UMU.

The Tomahawks managed to see out the game and win it 59-49.

UMU made just 4 of their 29 attempts.

The UPDF Tomahawks now lead the series 2-0.

Game 3 will be on Wednesday 19th at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.

Will the Tomahawks go up 3-0 or can the University side pull one back?
