The Ugandan Basketball community is currently overwhelmed with transfer news but one particular transfer has stood out. Brighton Galiwango being unveiled by Sommet as one of their new players.

In 2025, word had it that Sommet looked to sign Brighton but the deal never materialized. This time around, they managed to get the job done and we shall be seeing him on the grand Ugandan stage.

Brighton played just 2 games in the 2025 Division Two Season for Vegetarian and he showed out.

He registered a game-high 9 assists, 15 points, 5 steals, and 4 rebounds to help his team win 56-47 against Gulu Hawks.

In his second game, against Governors, Galiwango registered 35 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 7 steals and most importantly, he played all 40 minutes.

This was a small sample space but he showed the world that he can be explosive offensively.

Brighton has been a part of the Uganda youth program for a number of years.

In 2021, he played at the U16 Afrobasket and averaged 13.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

In 2024, Galiwango was part of the U18 team that played at the Afrobasket in South Africa and he averaged 9 points and 3 rebounds.

Galiwango has a lot of potential and one thing that has come to be known about him is the fact that he loves to score.

In Sommet, we are not sure how much he will play but being at this stage will be a learning experience for him.

Also, given that he is under 21, he could be allowed to play in the lower leagues so as to get more experience.

Sommet added another player, Emilagba Abolaji Abdulahi , a Nigerianwho has been playing in Benin.

It is also rumoured that they released over 8 years.

Having reached the semi-finals in 2025, Can Sommet go all the way to finals?

The NBL tips-off on 6th February with Team and Player registration ending on 20th January.
