The 2026 NBL is a few days away and today we highlight teams that had the most to gain in the transfer window.

Most teams did business but which players will impact the most?

Magic Stormers

The Magic Stormers managed to retain most of their players from the 2025 NBL Season. However, they made some very interesting new additions that could push them to a higher finish in 2026.

They added Cameroon International Kipo Gisele Kelya who was part of the team at the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket. Kelya has good height and given that she has played at the continental stage, she has valuable experience.

The other player they added is Congolese Basiku Mputu Grace who has played for the DRC National Team and also the continental stage.

These two players together with Kur Ajah, Joy Nekesa Mupalia, Daphine Adong and Angella Auma will be very key in helping the team reach big heights.

UCU Lady Canons

The UCU Lady Canons were a solid team in 2025 but lacked in some few areas. The most important of those areas was the back-up point guard. Shillah Lamunu played heavy minutes and this was down to the fact that there was no backup. Mariam Namukwaya will come in to solve that problem and in some moments, she will come up huge.

Faith Aseru is also a body that they can use in the paint. She has size, has played in the NBL and could impact off the bench.

The most important thing for the Lady Canons was to retain their core from 2025 and they managed to do that.

JT Lady Jaguars

The JT Lady Jaguars made it to the finals in 2025 but surprisingly, they remained with the entire team. On top of that, they added 2 players, Bridget Aber and Amy Chan Grace.

Aber is an NBL champion, has a lot of experience and knows what is expected of her. She will be a force in the paint.

Amy Chan Grace is very versatile, can play multiple positions and will help the team in multiple ways.

These two could be the missing pieces for the JT Lady Jaguars.

Pearl Queens

The 2025 Division One Champions retained just 3 players from their winning season. However, they managed to get some players who has played in the NBL before.

Fildauce, Nanyonga and Kamwada have a lot of experience in the NBL. Akello Scovia, Rose Adhiambo were solid players in Division One and have some experience in the NBL.

Pearl Queens also added Nigerian Jane Iriele and Congolese Rosiane Mungwapa Mpokfuri. The 2 have size and could be forces in the paint.

The current squad may not be in the top 3 or 4 when it comes to chasing the championship but the team may make it to the playoffs.
