Newly promoted Victoria She Crocs is one very intriguing team that needs to be scrutinized. They were founded in 2025 and managed to get promotion to the NBL. However, there were totally destroyed by Pearl Queens in a finals that ended in a 4-0 sweep.
Coming into the 2026 NBL Season, this was one of the teams to watch.
Why was this the case?
In the last couple of seasons, the newly promoted sides have struggled to get their footing in the NBL. This is because, most of them rarely make big moves and stay with their squad from the season before.
However, the difference between the NBL and Division One is huge and often, the teams who dominate in the lower league struggle in the NBL.
Coming into the new season, we knew that Pearl Queens would make some moves. What we weren’t sure of was whether the She Crocs would do the same.
If both of these teams made big moves, we would be seeing a potential shift in the power balance but they both never did.
This means that there is a huge possibility of having about 6 teams competing for 2 or maybe 3 playoff spots.
Victoria New Signings
The Victoia She Crocs maintained their ‘core’ of Naluyima Bisoboka, Generous Grant, Thelma Toskin, Ayak Ngor, and Viola Nakazibwe. This shows that they want to continue building on what was started in 2025.
However, just like earlier mentioned, teams that come from the Division One and don’t make major additions usually struggle. Some of the players above have played in the NBL before but they were mainly bench players. They are not proven at this stage.
When you get to the new signings, the Victoria She Crocs went for mainly young players. Aziz Faridah and Mary Hazel Ssengendo both played for Nkumba Lady Marines in 2025. However, they have never won an NBL game.
Sharifah Nampijja, Prossy Nankya and Vanessa Grace Nakalembe are youngsters who have never played in a league.
Yohanis Susan Nadir Peter signed for the KCCA Leopards in 2024 but did not get much playing time while Cathy Kekimuli is a Veteran who played with A1 Challenge in 2024.
The Most intriguing player is Francine TSHIMANGA MUKENDI who has played on the DR Congo National team before. She has size and could cause opponents some problems in the paint.
To me, I don’t think that the Victoria She Crocs will make any noise in the league this season. This is because most of their players haven’t had tangible individual success at this level.
I feel like the main goal this season will be to avoid relegation and if they make the playoffs, it will be a bonus. The other goal is to make sure that the young players get some experience so that the team can build on that in 2027.
