Newly promoted Pearl Queens registered their first NBL win of the seasons after defeating the KIU Rangers 50-49 in a 12-point second half comeback.

After losing their opening 2 games, Pearl Queens needed to get a positive result and facing a weakened KIU Rangers side was an opportunity for that.

However, the KIU Rangers, who had won their opening 2 games of the season, looked the much better side in the first half as they led 31-20.

Ines Kanyamuneza and Sharon Kirabo once again were the integral pieces as they combined for 19 points and 6 assists in the first half.

However, in the second half, Pearl Queens turned up defensively. They limited the KIU Rangers to just 18 points in the second half.

Coming into the fourth quarter, the KIU Rangers led the game 40-30 but they scored just 1 field goal in the final period and a worrisome 9 points.

The Rangers were limited to just 1 point in the final 5 minutes of the game while Pearl Queens scored the final 7 points.  As thus, Pearl Queens managed to make a comeback to win the game 50-49.
