Tracy Namugosa made history, as she became the first place to score 30+ points in game this season as the KCCA Leopards defeated Nabisunsa 88-54. She scored a game-high 4 3-point shots from 11 attempts and 7 of 10 of her 2-point attempts.
Coming into the fourth quarter, Namugosa had scored 19 points and she looked to hit the 30-point mark. However, with a few seconds to go, she had 27 and seemed like she would not make it to 30. The KCCA Leopards then got the possession and called for a time.
At this point, it felt like the plan was to set her up for a 3-point shot but that was not the case. She made a drive, scored and drew the foul. Consequently, she made the free throw to make it 30 points for her.
Coming into this game, the KCCA Leopards had registered their second defeat of the season after a lacklustre performance against the UCU Lady Canons. In that game, they had scored just 34 points, which was very underwhelming.
As thus, the Leopards knew they needed a big result and they did not waste any time. After the first quarter, they led the game 25-12 with most of their points coming in transition. The Leopards forced Nabisunsa into 10 turnovers in the first quarter and managed to score 11 points from turnovers.
In the second quarter, they upped their defense and limited Nabisunsa to just 9 points. On offense, they scored 21 points to take a 21-point lead at the halftime break.
In the second half, it was about managing the game for the KCCA Leopards and they did exactly that.
