The UCU Lady Canons made it 4 wins in a row to start the 2026 NBL season after easing past the Victoria She Crocs in a dominant 69-40 victory. This was an easy game for the 2025 finalists and from start to finish, they were in control.

Coming into this game, the Lady Canons had won 3 in a row their last win coming against the KCCA Leopards. On the flipside, the Victoria She Crocs had fallen to the KCCA Leopards in their last game and needed to bounce back. However, it was always going to be a tough game given that they were against one of the top teams in the league.

The game started off slow with neither team scoring in the first 3 minutes. However, the Lady Canons made an 11-0 run before Victoria scored after more than 6 minutes into the game. The first quarter ended 15-7 with 5 of the She Crocs points coming from the free throw line.

In the second quarter, the Lady Canons managed to pull away. They scored 22 points while Victoria scored only 10 sending the game into the halftime break 37-17.

The She Crocs started strong in this game as they made a 7-0 run. However, in the final 4 minutes of the half, UCU limited the Victoria She Crocs to 0 points. They made a 14-0 run with there is a spell where they made 3 consecutive 3-point shots.

Mariam Namukwaya was on fire and she finished the first half with 16 points and 4 3-point shots made.

In the second half, it was about game management for the Lady Canons. They extended their lead to 31 points ahead of the fourth quarter and at this point, they had the win in the bag.

Thelma Toskin hit some big 3-pointers for Victoria in the fourth quarter but time had already run out and they lost the game 69-40.

The UCU Lady Canons coach gave some players valuable time, the like of Maria Awidi, Sharifah Nalwadda and Christine Saima played some valuable minutes.
