The UCU Lady Canons extended their winning streak to 5 games after edging the KIU Rangers 51-40 on Wednesday 4th at Lugogo.

This was another low scoring game and at the halftime break, one would not imagine that we would see a team reach the 50-point mark.

This game was a repeat of the 2025 NBL quarter-finals match up and a lot was expected. However, the first half was very underwhelming.

The first quarter ended in a stalemate as both teams scored just 7 points. In the second, UCU went scoreless for almost 7 minutes but managed to get some points as the half winded down. On the other hand, the KIU Rangers managed to score 10 points in the quarter and led the game 17-14 at halftime.

The game broke open in the third quarter. The UCU Lady Canons took over and the difference in the quality of the two teams was glaring. UCU made a 13-2 run in the first 5 minutes of the third quarter and took a 9-point lead.

They went on to score 26 points in the whole of the third quarter while KIU scored just 9 points. With their 14-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, it was difficult to see the Mukono side losing this game.

The KIU Rangers made a couple of 3-point shots in the fourth quarter but despite putting some force, the UCU Lady Canons managed to see out the game and win 51-40.
