Seeta High, which had only seven players available, defeated the Lady Icons 49-46 to register their second win of the season.
The high school side had struggled coming into this game as they had lost 3 consecutive games. To make matters worse, they were up against an in-form Lady Icons who had won 4 straight games.
Basing on the current form of the two teams and the fact that Seeta had only 7 players available, it was expected to be a very difficult game for them.
However, to the surprise of many, Seeta started the game strong and this was a big factor in why they managed to win the game.
They led the game 21-9 after the first quarter and dominated the Lady Icons on the boards.
Seeta had 12 more rebounds than the Lady Icons in the first quarter and scored 6 second chance points while Lady icons had none. Additionally, they buried 3 3-point shots while their opponents scored just 1 and also missed 5 free throws.
The Lady Icons showed what they are capable of in the third quarter. They improved on their rebounding but most importantly, Francaes Nabulobi turned into beast mode. She hit 4 triples in the quarter and scored 14 of the team’s 19 points in the second quarter.
However, Achomo Lucky managed to keep Seeta in the game as she scored 8 of the team’s 12 points in the second quarter. Seeta led the game 33-28 at the halftime break.
After 2 minutes in the second quarter, Lady Icons took the lead for the first time in the game but shortly after, Reginah Patricia Nakato made her third triple of the game to give Seeta back the lead. Seeta then managed to see out the game to register a 49-46 victory.
