There is a saying, “the rich get richer and the poorer become poorer.” That is what we could be seeing in the 2026 NBL mid-season transfer window.

The top 2 teams, the City Oilers and the Namuwongo Blazers have added solid International stars as they chase glory. On the other hand, the last placed team, the Kampala Rockets, have lost some of their players.

City Oilers

The 10-time champions who have an 11-1 record have added American Point Guard Patrick Rembert. Rembert was with the City Oilers in the 2024 BAL Nile Conference and he averaged 15 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the 6 games he played.

Namuwongo Blazers

The number 2 team, the Namuwongo Blazers have also added combi guard Kasereka Tembo. Tembo played for Sommet in 2025 and the KIU Titans in 2024. He was the top 3-point shooter in the 2024 season and he has shown his value. Tembo will be joining country mate, Fataki Nyembo who left Sommet for the Blazers ahead of the start of this season.

Namuwongo has also let go of their former vice Captain Micheal Makiadi.

Rezlife Saints

The Rezlife Saints finished the first round with a 9-2 record. They have added services of point guard Christopher Omanye.

Sommet

The 2025 NBL Finalists made some major changes to their squad. They let go of Internationals, Karabana Diaw, Emilagba Abolaji and Nkulu Kaseya. This freed up space for new arrivals, Puati Ozias Kikomba and Gatwang Thuok with one more slot available.

UPDF Tomahawks

The army side added Bolton Rujumba from City Oilers and Austine Odiwuor Odhiambo from the KCCA Panthers. They also released veteran Gang Andrew will joined the Victoria Crocs.

JKL Dolphins

It is rumoured that the JKL Dolphins released most of their International players. They also added Martin Saa Sita and Ichut Ring Iyiei.

These are some of the current transfers and more player movement is expected. One thing to note though is that some of these players may not feature in some of the games. Since the signature amendment law was changed, players can sign using electronic signatures and will come whenever the team needs them. It won’t be surprising if some of these players don’t appear at all.

The mid-season transfer window will go on until 15th May. Game Week 12 tips off on Wednesday 29th April with games at 3 venues.
