The 2026 NBL regular season is nearing the end and the rush to lock down positions is on. Whereas the battle for a good seed for the playoffs is on, relegation battle is also with keeping an eye on.
The first team to be relegated is Angels. They have won just one game in the second round and currently have a 2-8 record. With just 2 games to play, the maximum possible amount of wins they can get this season is 4 which is less than the Miracles and Victoria She Crocs’ 6.
The next other team that could possibly get relegated is Nabisunsa. At the moment, they have a 2-14 and if they win all their remaining games, they would move to 8-14. 8 wins is more than both Victoria’s and Miracle’s 6. So if Nabisunsa can end up with the same or better record as Miracle or Victoria, they will most likely survive the axe.
The battle at the top is also another interesting one to watch. The JT Lady jaguars are currently top of the standings with an 18-2 record. If they win all their remaining 2 games, they will have sealed the number one seed.
The UCU Lady Canons have a 17-2 record and are projected to finish with a 20-2 record. However, if that happens, they will most likely finish as the number 2 seed given that the JT Lady Jaguars own the tiebreaker.
In third place are the KCCA Leopards. Despite have lost on a walkover, the leopards have won 14 games and have a 14-5.
From number four to number ten, it is scramble for places. The Magic Stormers, JKL Lady Dolphins, KIU Rangers, Pearl Queens, UPDF Lady Tomahawks and Victoria She Crocs are fighting to see who finishes higher.
The NBL regular season will be closing on 12th June and every of the remaining games will contribute significantly to the final team standings.
