As is always the case, the months of June, July and August are usually filled with a lot of basketball action. This year will be the same, we shall have the senior team, youth teams, and 3×3 teams all being in action.

Senior Team Men (Silverbacks)

Many might have forgotten but the Silverbacks played in the world cup qualifiers in February and March. They will be in action for their second window in July. In round one, they never won any game but there is optimism that they can be able to win something in this window.

  • Uganda vs Egypt, 5 July

U18 Boys and Girls

The U18 teams will both in action in June and possibly August. The teams have had 3 training/ selection phases; in December, January and recently in May. The U18 Zone V Qualifiers shall be happening in Uganda at the Hoima City Stadium from 14th to 20th June.

The women have already qualified for the U18 Afrobasket while the boys seek qualification. The event shall be in Abidjan Cote d’Ivoire from 3rd to 6th August.

3×3 Women’s Senior Team

As Uganda pushes to qualify for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, the 3×3 senior women’s team will be competing at the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s series. Uganda also qualified for the Commonwealth games which shall be happening in Glasgow.

3×3 Confirmed events

  • Orleans stop, June 16-17
  • Marseille stop, June 26-27
  • Poitiers stop, July 3-4
  • Commonwealth Games, 24-29 July

U23 3×3 Men and Women

The U23 3×3 teams for both the men and the women will also be in action for the 3×3 Youth Nations League. The points for the women will contribute significantly to the ranking of the federation, which could affect whether Uganda goes to the Olympics or not.

The games shall be taking place from 1st to 7th July in Mombasa, Kenya and the teams shall be competing in 6 stops. Each day will be a stop of its own and the overall winner shall qualify for the U23 3×3 World Cup.

U21 3×3 Men and Women

Just like the U23 teams, the U21 teams will have both the men and women playing at the 3×3 Youth Nations league. Once again, the points collected more so for the women will be key in Uganda realizing their Olympics dream. The event will run from 3rd to 9th August in Tunis, Tunisia.
