The 2026 NBL Regular season has been competitive from the get-go and was full of shock results. From the defending champions finishing 8th to Nabisunsa getting relegated to a number of teams being tied with similar records
A lot has happened but amidst all this, there have been players who have consistently put up exceptional performances. In this article, I will be breaking down my team of the season.
Tracy Namugosa
When you talk about top performers in this season, Namugosa’s name has consistently been in the discussion. She led the league in scoring with 382 points, an average of 18.2 points per game. She was the only player to score 30+ points in multiple games. On top of that, she scored 20+ points in 8 of the 11 first round games.
It is safe to say that Tracy was the engine that kept the KCCA Leopards going. If she wasn’t around or had an off day, the team struggled and this was evident in their first round losses to the JT Lady Jaguars and the UCU Lady Canons.
One thing is for sure, if that walkover against the Miracle Eaglets had not happened, Tracy would have has over 400 points scored in the regular season. Nonetheless, she has always shown up for the Leopards all season long and she is a big part of the reasons as to why they finished as the number 3 seed.

Ruth Letaru
Since the second round of the 2025 NBL, something changed in Ruth Letaru. We used to know her for her aggression on the defensive end but something sparked inside of her and she started to deliver on offense. A move to the UPDF Lady Tomahawks was perhaps the best thing that happened for both parties this season.
When we look at the transfers that took place at the start of the season, Letaru’s has arguably been the best. She helped the UPDF Tomahawks defeat the JKL Lady Dolphins twice and the KCCA Leopards. They also finished as the number 6 seed. Letaru brought a lot of energy and tenacity on the defensive end and this seemed to spill over to her teammates.
On top of that, she went to work on the offensive end averaged 10.5 points per game. She added 7.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.6 steals. Ruth available for all the game and played almost 35 minutes per game.
Joy Auma
Auma has been one of the most productive players this season. She is among the few players to average a double-double with 12.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2 steals and 1.4 blocks. However, what makes Joy standout is not just the numbers. She has been a leader for Nabisunsa and their most important player more so on the defensive end.
Auma was used as a big man despite being undersized for the position and she did very well. She was also one of the most utilized plyers as she averaged 36 minutes and played all the 22 games. Despite Nabisunsa being relegated, Auma’s performances did not go unnoticed and she makes my team of the regular season.
Martina Anyango
The UCU Lady Canons are the number 2 seed, tied with the same record as the JT Lady Jaguars. Their most important and consistent player has been Martina Anyango. She is among the few players to average a double-double with 12 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals. Anyango was also very efficient from the field with 47% FG and this was the highest among people with 200+ points.

Mercy Batamuliza
Batamuliza is one of the few players to have registered a triple-double this season. She has always shown out for the JT Lady Jaguars and is known for her rebounding prowess. Despite playing just 23 minutes per game, Mercy averaged 9.4 points, 11 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 3.7 steals.
The JT Lady Jaguars have been very dominant in the 2026 NBL regular season and their defense has been rock solid. Batamuliza’s presence on the floor has been a major part of why their defense has been good as she altered some shots and some attackers feared to attack her for fear of being blocked. Additionally, due her roots in Netball, she has the ability to make reads, deflect passes and get steals. It is no wonder that she is among the leaders in steals.
