The Uganda 3×3 Women’s Senior team produced a much better performance in their final stop of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s series in Marseille.
Uganda, which had not made it past the group stages in the first 2 stops, put up very good performances and finished 6th at this stop.
Coming into the event, Uganda had lost both their games, against, Neftchi Socar and Mitsubishi Electric in their first stop in Orleans.
In their second stop in Marseille, Uganda was unable to make it past the qualifying draw having defeated Rome but lost to Paris Region IDF.
This was their final stop and once again they had to start from the qualifying draw. However, they meant business.
They thumped Benin 21-1 in their first game and secured an important 14-10 victory against Portugal, which sent them to the Pool phase.
In their first pool game, Uganda secured a 12-10 win over Madrid. They then lost to France U25, 20-17, but qualified to the quarter-finals.
Uganda once again faced off with Neftchi Socar in their quarter-final game but fell to them 18-15.
With this, Uganda finished 6th in the competition.
Facts
This was the highest ever finish for team Uganda at the Women’s series.
In their game against Benin, Uganda scored 21 points and it was the first time the team reached the 21 point mark at the Women’s series.

Team Uganda shall play at the Commonwealth games which shall be taking place in Glasgow.
Additionally, the U23 team shall play at the Women’s series stop in Baku, Azerbaijan and the U23 World Cup in Wuhan, China on 15-19 September.
The U21 team shall play at the Youth Nations League in Monastir, Tunisia in August.
