The JT Lady Jaguars took a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBL playoff semifinals after seeing off the Magic Stormers in a 74-64 victory. The game, which was played on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, was a tale of 2 halves but Sudi Ulanga’s squad managed to secure the win and put the themslves just one victory away from making consecutive NBL finals appearance.

Building seamlessly on their 77-61 triumph in Game One, the Lady Jaguars dictated the tempo early on, leveraging a massive first-half scoring onslaught to withstand a late defensive fightback from the Stormers.

Match Breakdown

In game one, we saw the JT lady jaguars starting the game strong and taking a 15-point lead at halftime. In the second half, Magic Stormers applied some pressure and tried to come back into the game but they lost the game 77-61.

In game 2, the Magic Stormers knew that they had to start the game off on a high but they did the opposite while the Lady jaguars blew them away. JT outscored the Magic Stormers 51-23 in the first half. They scored a whopping 27 points in the first quarter and most importantly, they made 6 of 8 shots from the 3-point line.

In the first half, the lady Jaguars had made 8 3-point shots and scored 16 of their 32 attempts from the field. Additionally, they had made 11 of their attempted 13 free throws.

Down 28 at halftime, the Stormers had to employ new strategies if they were to get something out of this game. They refused to go down without a fight and applied significant resistance.

The Stormers limited the Jaguars to just 11 points in the third quarter and only 2 field goals scored. Despite that, their offense only brought them 19 points which meant that they still trailed by 20 and half a lot more work to do.

In the final quarter, the Stormers went all out and put the Lady Jaguars on the ropes. They made an 11-0 run to cut the deficit to 8 points but Shakirah Nanvubya delivered the final nail in the coffin with a late dagger 3-pointer.

Standout Performers

Afteri missing out on game one, Kur Ajah returned and showed why she is a key pillar of this team. She dropped a stellar double-double of 20 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Susan Eben led the second-half revival for the Magic Stormers, netting a hard-fought 13 points plus 7 rebounds in a losing effort.

Maimuna Nabbosa led the scoring for the Lady Jaguars with 15 points. Mary priscillar nambogo added 13 while Brenda Kayaga and Shakirah Nanvubya each had 10 points.

A Must-Win Game Three for Magic Stormers

Having secured the win, the JT Lady Jaguars lead the series 2-0 and areon the brink of sweeping the Magic Stormers who face a steep uphill battle in Game Three.

The Stormers must win game 3 in order to keep their season alive but from what we have seen, there is plenty to be positive about. If they can start the game strong, maybe they will be able to pull one back.

Game 3 will take place on on Friday 31st August at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
