The 2026 Women’s NBL came to a conclusion on Sunday 30th August as the UCU Lady Canons defeated the JT Lady Jaguars in game five to close the finals series 4-1. This victory marked a historic ninth championship for the UCU Lady Canons. On this same day, the end of season awards were given with Tracy Namugosa and Martina Anyango taking home the majority of the accolades.
Top Scorer
Tracy Namugosa was the top scorer of the season with 493 points. This was 106 points more than the second person. She averaged 17.6 points.
Top Rebounder
Martina Anyango had the most rebounds with 324. She averaged 11.2 rebounds per game and averaged the most offensive rebounds with 4.9 per game.
Best 3-point shooter
Tracy Namugosa scored the most 3-point shots with 54.
Defensive Player of the year
Sarah Ageno was named the defensive player of the year. She anchored their defensive and was very consistent throughout the season. Ageno was top 5 in defensive rebounds with 177 and also had 67 steals.
MVP Regular Season
Tracy Namugosa was named the MVP of the 2026 NBL Regular Season. She carried her team, the KCCA Leopards, on her back and was consistent. Namugosa was also a big contributor on both ends of the floor and every time she had a bad game, their team struggled.
Playoffs MVP
Martina Anyango was named the MVP of the playoffs. Her performances were exceptional and despite not playing in the quarterfinals, there is no doubt that she was the best performing player in the playoffs.
In the 9 games she played in the playoffs, she averaged 16.3 points, 13.2 points and 1.4 assists. She registered a double-double in 7 of the 9 games and scored 20+ points on 3 occasions.

Tracy Namugosa, Martina Anyango and Sarah Ageno were some of the most consistent players throughout the season and they tremendously contributed to their teams’ success.
Youngster Joy Auma has been a very solid player for Nabisunsa. Despite being undersized, she played at the number 5 position and was always taking on the heavy defensive assignments. Auma averaged a double-double with 12.2 points and 10.3 rebounds. She was also top 10 in assists and blocks with 3.8 and 1.4 respectively.
Daphine Adong was another top performer and she helped guide her team to another top 4 finish. She scored 303 points (6th), had the third most assists with 102 and registered the second most steals with 81. Adong was ever present for the Magic Stormers and she was a driving force for them.
