The 2026 FUBA Division One Women’s season will soon come to an end but the path has already been determined. University sides; Kampala University, Makerere Sparks and Nkumba Lady Marines lead the way as the favorites to earn promotion to the NBL.

Despite the university sides occupying the top 3 spots, a couple of teams have shown that they are capable of upsetting them. Seeta High and St Cyprian have been some of the most in-form teams in the second round and they have shown that they are ready for the mantle.

Kampala University Vs Lady Icons/Amazon Rhino

Currently, Lady Icons sit in eighth place but they face Amazon Rhino in the final game of the regular season. If Amazon Rhino win by more than 22 points, they will move to eighth but that is highly unlikely.

Kampala University finished as the number one seed boosting of a 19-3 record. With their current form, it will be very hard not to see them progress to the semifinals. their squad was also boosted by second round additions; Rose Adhiambo Musundi and Nyabeal Kuach.

Makerere Sparks vs St Cyprian Kyabakadde

This will be one of the big games to watch-out for. In the first round, Sparks dominated and finished with an 11-0 record. However, the second round was rough as they lost 4 games, ultimately dropping to the number 2 seed. Among the games they lost was their tie against St Cyrprian who made a 14-point comeback.

St Cyprian has been on form this second round and with their victory over the Sparks in the second round, they will come in the series with so much confidence. On the other side, Makerere Sparks will have to dig deep and prove that they are the better team. For them, this looks like the season they can return to the NBL, if not this year, then when?

Nkumba Lady Marines vs Seeta high

Seeta started the season on a low as they had a 3-8 record after the first round. They turned their fortunes around in the second as they won 9 of the 11 games and earning a place in the playoffs.

Nkumba had an 8-3 record in the first round but it dropped to 7-4 in the second. Nonetheless, they had done enough to finish as the number three seed.

The Lady marines, who got relegated from the NBL in 2025, aim to return to the top flight but they must go past one of the most in-form teams. This will be a high stakes clash.

JT Junior Lady Jaguars vs MUBS Lady Jills

The JT junior Lady jaguars had a wonderful first round as they finished it with an 8-3 record. The situation changed a bit in the second as they went for 6-5. At the moment, they have won 4 of their last 5 games and are in form.

They face a Lady Jills side who have been better in the second round. The Lady Jills won 6 games in round one but they improved their tally to 7 in the second. They are also highly motivated and will be looking to get revenge against the Junior Lady Jaguars.

In round one, the Junior lady jaguars won the tie by a point. In the second, they won by 3 points. This fixture will be one to watch out for as both teams will be going for it. The 2 were eliminated in the quarterfinals during the 2025 season but one of them will be making it to the semifinals this time around.

Semifinals

The winner between Makerere Sparks and St Cyprian game will face the winner between the Nkumba Lady Marines and Seeta High Tie. The winner between the Kampala University and Lady Icons game shall face the winner between the JT Junior Lady Jaguars and MUBS Lady Jills.
