Watoto defeated Berkley 51-49 in game three of the 2026 FUBA Division One semifinals. This victory made the series 2-1 but once again, we witnessed drama just like we had in the first 2 games.

In game one, Watoto trailed by 15 points in the fourth quarter but leveled the game with about a minute to spare. However, Berkley managed to score with the final attempt of the game to win 57-55.

Game two had another turn of events. Watoto led by 3 points with about 2 seconds to play but Elijah Nsereko missed 2 free throws and Jovani hit a big three for Berkley to level the game. It was decided in overtime and Berkley took the day, 74-70.

With these near misses, Watoto was intent on having a perfect game three. They started the game on a high and led 16-5 early in the first quarter. However, Berkley finished the quarter strong. They scored 9 unanswered points to make it 16-14 at the end of the period.

Watoto’s offense was not firing as hard as it had been in the opening stages of the game. They scored just 12 points in the second quarter while Berkley made 16 to take a 2-point lead into halftime. Berkley hit 3 huge triples with Anyunva making 2.

It was a nightmare of a start to the third quarter for Berkley. They made just 2 points in over 6 minutes. In that time, Watoto scored 10 points to take an 8-point lead. By the end of the quarter, they led the game 44-40.

Drama unfolded in the final quarter. Both had their moments but in the final minute somrthimg similar to what we saw in game two occurred. Watoto led by 5 but Opio Emmanuel scored a huge 3 to cut the deficit to 2 points.

Victor Makmot was fouled and sent to the line with about 14 seconds left. He missed the 2 free throws but fortunately for Watoto, Duot Ajang made a turnover after picking the rebound. James Osinde was then fouled and sent to the line but he also missed both. Berkley had a chance to score the game winner but Anyunva was unable to hit the target. Those sequences were similar to what had happened in game two and had Berkley won, it could have been three very painful and avoidable defeats.
