Game week 2 of the second round unfolded yet more drama in the women’s league with incredible team and individual performances. There was even a brief change at the top of the log with KIU toppling the Lady Jaguars but the Jaguars swift response the next day restored the previous order.

Nabisunsa against A1 Challenge opened the Gameweek on Wednesday night, and as their name states, A1 Challenge was up for the challenge against the High School side managing to pick up another victory to start the second round strongly. A1 Challenges’s Kekimuli Cathy dropped a double double with 10 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists.

A1 Challenge made it 3 wins in a row to start the second round with an emphatic 75:32 victory against the Kampala University Ladies. The starting team of A1 was in beast mode 4 of them with double digit points.

Maria Goreti Angole led the A1 side to victory dropping 20 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. On the supporting cast were Vivian Nafuna Lusamamba (14 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals), Sharua Nakirya (12 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists) and Patience Nakalembe (10 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals).

KIU Rangers was next on Friday and a brilliant team effort enabled them to seamlessly veer pas the Leopards. The Rangers went on top of the log after the victory, toppling the JT Lady Jaguars.

About the game of KCCA panthers vs KIU Rangers

JT Lady jaguars victory against the winless Nkumba Lady Marines was not a surprise as they wanted to take back the top spot. The dangerous trio of the Lady jaguars once again showed out with Sarah Ageno dropping 15 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Zainah Lokwameri (18 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals) contributed both in terms of points and being able to make a teammates involved with the assists. Maimuna Nabbosa as has always been was impactful off the bench with 10 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 1 steal.

Miracle Ravens were able to upset the Magic Stormers as they picked up a victory to start the second round. It was a relatively even first half with the Ravens up by 6 points but a very poor third quarter from both teams ensued with only just 9 points scored, 8 by the stormers to take a 2 point lead heading into the fourth quarter. The stormers seemed to disappear completely as the Ravens took control of the game both offensively and defensively thus taking the quarter 21:4 and subsequently taking the victory by 16 points.

Akello Winnifred who played the entire game scored 15 points, 17 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Shadia Mbwali followed closely with 11 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Daniella Nyamwezi was the offensive spark for the Stormers with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals whereas Ruth Nambirige was locked in defensively with 2 points, 17 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.

JT Lady jaguars closed the gameweek thrashing Nabisunsa 70:29. The White Jaguars trio once again did there thing with Sarah Ageno posting 12 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 1 steal. Zainah Lokwameri 16 points, 5 rebounds,7 assists and 2 steals on 70% FG. Maimuna Nabbosa 6 points on 75% FG, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.

Angels against KCCA Leopards was postponed to a date yet to be announced.
