The UCU Canons lost both their games and most unexpectedly, the Ndejje Angels made a historic comeback to complete the double over the NBL giants in overtime.

It was a game of alternating quarters that had to be decided in overtime and the Angels eventually getting the better of the Canons.

UCU started strong creating a 19 point lead but the Angels cut it to just 10 to close the first quarter. The momentum continued and the Ndejje side eventually took the lead in the second. The Angels went on a 19:00 run to start the second getting a 9 point lead. The UCU also went on an 8:0 run to make it a 1 point game.

The Canons recollected and came back stronger in the third quarter. They were firing from all cylinders and managed to get an 8 point lead to close the third quarter.

UCU started the fourth quarter strong with extending the lead to 12 before the Angels went on a 13:2 run to make it a 1 point game.  Both teams had short runs but eventually the Angels tied the game and took the lead with 24 seconds left.

Kayiira Joel tied the game with 10 seconds left but their just enough time for the Angels to make an attack. Trevor Mutyaba and Kok makuar both missed layups that’d have given them the win and the game was sent to overtime.

It was mostly one way traffic in overtime and the Ndejje Angels eventually winning what is a historic victory in the University’s basketballs program.

Ndejje Angels had 5 players in double digits with Jonathan Oketch, Trevor Mutyaba and Kok Makur all impacting off the bench.

UCU Canons had 4 players in double digits.

Kok Makur Gol led in scoring with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 1 assist.

Trevor Mutyaba was exceptional with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists.

Joseph Kumbai also had a double double posting 18 points, 19 rebounds and 1 assist.

Peter Sifuma once again dominant off the glass with 22 rebounds (game high) accompanied by 17 points and 4 assists.

Jimmy otim scored 18 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists.  Jerry Kayanga was also impressive with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

UCU registered 67 rebounds compared to 58 for the Angels

The Canons had poor ball handling, with 45 turnovers while the Angels had only 30.
