22 year old Janat Nandudu is set to make her debut for the Rugby Lady Cranes at the Upcoming Dubai 7s.

Janat who wowed the crowd with unparalleled pace and ability to evade defenders, made a name for herself at the Stone City 7s, scoring 6 tries (the most) while representing the Lady Cranes.

However, she was unable to make a debut at either the Africa Women’s Sevens or Safari 7’s due to school.

Nandudu recently completed her Senior four at Nkoma S.S where she won three National Secondary School’s titles in Rugby 7s.

She started her Rugby journey in 2019 at Mbale Eagles and has since been honing her craft till her big break in june 2023 when she was called to the National team.

Janat is looking to make a move to the Kyadondo based side, Thunderbirds for the 2025 season, as the transfer window for 2024 already closed.

Following news that Emily Lekuru, who was earlier named in the squad, was not going to be able to make the trip, Janat Nandudu had been chosen as a replacement and she will be donning the Black, Yellow, Red jersey for the first time, and on the grandest of stages.

In an interview with 2bob sports reporter, Nandudu talked about her aspirations and the feeling of being at the big stage.

Playing for the Lady Cranes has been a dream of mine. I am very excited for this journey and i can’t wait to contribute on the pitch.

The Lady Cranes will be traveling to Dubai as earlier communicated and they will be hoping to leave a mark and qualify for the 2025 HSBC sevens.
