Ugandan basketball and netball stars were among the top performers in the 2025 Netball Super League in Malaysia.

Shadiah Nassanga, Christine Nakkito, Mercy Batamuliza, and Stella Nanfuka ply their trades in the Uganda National Basketball League, play in the National Netball League, and also are seasoned members of the She Cranes teams.

The stars missed out on an opportunity to play for the She Cranes at the Vitality Nations Netball Cup in England but decided to go to Malaysia for the one-month league.

Shadiah Nassanga and Christine Nakito played for the KL Wildcats, who were the eventual Champions, while Mercy Batamuliza and Stella played for Peral Phoenix, who finished in 3rd place.

Nassanga led the scoring charts with 386 goals on 91% shooting, while the second person had just 260 goals.

Mercy Batamuliza led in interceptions with 41. She was a two-way player, helping in defense and also playing as a shooter.

Christine Nakito was named the 2nd best defender in the tournament.

Mercy was named in the 2024 NBL Team of the Season and she’s looking to better her performances and make the team once again.

Christine Nakito also had a fantastic season with the Magic Stormers, doing damage on offense and defense and the 2025 season could be an even much better season for her.

Shadiah Nassanga won the championship with the JKL Lady Dolphins but did not have much playing time. Whether she remains at the club is yet to be confirmed.

The 2025 NBL season tip-off on March 14th and these stars could all feature for various teams.
