In a club statement put out on the morning of 5th March 2025, Sommet will be competing in the 2025 NBL despite having been eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2024 FUBA Division One by UMU Flames.
Our Savior is a club that has been up for sale since December 2024 and with the way things look, a deal has been struck between the 2 clubs.
Our Savior will cease to exist in the league and Sommet will take over but that leaves some unanswered questions.
Sommet is a team that was in Division One and that means that as things stand, there are only 11 teams in that Division.
Who will replace them? Shall Watoto, who finished as number 11, survive?
Our Savior will also not have the ladies team participate after they officially pulled out and they will be replaced by Angels.
Sommet had lost a couple of their players to other teams like Mark Ngobi to Victoria University, Lihumi Jimmy to UCU.
With the Player and team registration pushed till 7th March, Can Sommet put together a team that can not only survive but compete in the NBL?
The NBL tips-off on 21st March.
