UCU ladies made history at the 2025 FISU University 3×3 World Cup as they finished third and won Bronze.

The ladies won their 2 pool games and advanced to the quarter-finals.

In the quarters, they faced University of Valencia and managed to win 20-16.

The semi-finals was tough. With about 15 seconds left, Shillah Lamunu scored a lay up to give UCU a 1-point lead.

However, immediately after, Vasyl Stefanyk University took the lead after a 2-point shot.

The game wasn’t done yet. Sylivia Nantongo got an offensive board and scored to send the game into overtime.

UCU had the first possession to start OT but missed. Vasyl Stefanyk University then scored on their next 2 possession to win the game 17-16.

This meant that the Ugandan side had been eliminated but their journey was not done yet.

They faced Chinese side, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and managed to win the game 18-15.

UCU led by as many as 6 points but the Chinese made a 5-0 run late to make it a 1-point game with seconds left.

They then had a chance to take the lead but missed a 2-point shot and UCU saw the game out.

Tracy Namugosa scored 11 of the 18 points for Uganda.

She was also named the MVP of the tournament after an incredible performance both offensively a d defensively.

History

UCU became the first Ugandan team to reach the win Bronze at this tournament.

This was also the first time that UCU women have made it to the quarter-finals and beyond.

Tracy Namugosa became the first African to win MVP at this tournament.
