Seeta High got promoted to the NBL after defeating Makerere Sparks 3-1 in the 2026 Division One semifinals. In game three, Seeta trailed by as many as 13 points but Christine Namyaalo plunged a dagger inside the hearts of Makerere’s players and fans after making a go ahead three with seconds left in the game.
Coming into game four, Seeta High had won the previous game 58-47 to take a 2-1 lead. Makerere had to win at all cost and they knew it. For the first time in a long while, they even had very many fans available. The season was on the line and the team had to do all it took to win the game.
The start of the game was exactly what the Sparks wanted. Makerere led the game 15-2 and all signs point to a big win. That excitement was short lived as the offense was extinguished. Makerere scored just 2 points in over 4 minutes and Seeta closed in. At the end of the quarter, Makerere led 17-8.
Makerere’s offense was not as hot anymore. In the first minutes of the second quarter, the teams each had their moments but in the final 4 minutes, the Sparks scored just 1 point. Seeta used that opportunity to slice the deficit further to just 3 points. The game was 28-25 at halftime.

The second half was not a pretty sight but drama happened in the clutch time. Sparks led by 5 points with under 3 minutes to go. For the next 2 minutes, neither team scored and Makerere had a chance to see out the game by they never did.
Afuwa Nabawanga and Purity Lamara both attempted with a lot pf time left on the shot clock. Unfortunately for them, they missed and on both occasions, Seeta scored in transition to make it a 1-point game.
Then the nightmare happened. Makerere turned the ball over and Christine Namyalo hit a huge that turned out to be the game winner. Makerere had a chance to level the game but Sora Deng missed twice from the line and that marked the end of Makerere’s season. Seeta High won the game 47-44.

Top Performers
Christine Namyalo was the star performer as she scored a game-high 15 points plus 6 steals. Most importantly, she made that go ahead three which turned out to be the game winner. Kristine Stephanie registered 18 rebounds plus 9 points while Moureen Lawmaka had 16 rebounds and 6 points.
Denize Nabugasha scored a team-high 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Purity Lamara finished with 8 points and 9 rebounds.

What next for both teams?
Seeta High earned promotion to the NBL which was the number one priority. They will face Kampala University in the Division One finals. Kampala University is one of 2 teams that defeated Seeta High in the second round.
Makerere Sparks will have to spend another year in Division One. 2026 looked like the best time but Seeta High had other plans. Makerere will face JT Junior Lady jaguars in the third place game.
