The JKL Lady Dolphins finished 6th in the Women’s Basketball League Africa Qualifiers after their defeat against Equity Bank from Kenya.

Following their victory against Gladiators, the Lady Dolphins looked to finish 5th but the Kenya side had the same intent and it was a battle that lived up to its expectations.

JKL looked the better side as they led the first quarter 22-17.

However, Equity was the more efficient team when it came to scoring. They had 8/17, 47% FG while JKL, despite having more attempts, were the less efficient side with 9/24, 37.5% FG.

The Lady Dolphins missed 8 layups and which would have given them a much bigger lead compared to the 5 points that they had this far.

The second quarter was tied and JKL went into halftime leading the game 30-35.

The third quarter was the turning point as JKL scored just 4 points while Equity managed to score 15 points to take a 6-point lead.

The efficiency was again one of the biggest problems for the Lady Dolphins.

They scored just 2 of 17 attempts from the Field while Equity scored 6/16, all of them coming from inside the D.

In the fourth quarter, the teams were going neck and neck but the JKL Lady Dolphins made a 10-2 run to make it a 1-point game.

However, Equity got a quick basket through Maryann Nyagaki Wanjiku to make it a 3-point game, and that proved enough for them to win.

In the final seconds of the game, JKL attempted 4 3-point shots while trying to tie the game but they were unable to hit the target and the game ended 59-56.
