JT Jaguars is one of the most fascinating teams as it’s very difficult to predict whether they will be a contender or just participants.

In the 2024 season, their first time in the NBL, they managed to finish as the number 7 seed and ultimately got eliminated by KIU Titans in the quarter-finals of the playoffs.

They managed to retain 12 of their 14 players from the season before and added Power Forward/Center Peter Sifuma from the UCU Canons.

Sifuma is a game changer for them but the big question is, how much can he elevate the team?

Sifuma averaged 12 points, 11.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in the 2024 season.

His presence in the interior was one of the biggest threats posed by the UCU Canons, and we expect him to bring the same to the Jaguars.

Fadhili Chuma did an outstanding job for the Jaguars in the 2024 season, averaging 6.6 points, 10 rebounds, 2.7 assists but the statistics don’t quite stress his importance on this team.

He controlled the game, offensively and was the primary ball handler for the team.

His ability to bring down the ball and lead the offensive line made it difficult for the opponents to take him out as he could be effective in multiple ways.

However, Chuma did not cause problems in the opposition’s paint and that is where the addition of Peter Sifuma comes in.

Sifuma and George Agasi could go to work on the inside while Chuma does work outside, plus a lethal shooter like Kevin Moru or Were Mark.

The fact of the matter is, the Jaguars need to improve their shooting from the 3-point line.

In the 2024 season, they scored just 127 of 579 attempts, 22% and that is very low for a team with Championship aspirations.

Kevin Moru and Were Mark scored 64 of 244 attempts, 26%, and as the people tasked with that job, they know those numbers are not good enough.

Most teams will try to neutralize the threat that Sifuma and Agasi pose in the interior, and that will leave some space for the shooters.

If their 3-point percentage numbers increase, the Jaguars are a real threat lest they are just participating.
